B3 Designers

I have just discovered Interior designers B3. I love their work!!! They have decked out the Exchange Hotel in Amsterdam. These rooms  are great... I want to go! Fashion meets architecture - brilliant!! (photos by Mirjam Bleeker) see all interior shots here

There's also Babel which is a bit closer to home at Clapham Junction,
I really like the use of lampshaped and mirrors!!

And some other inspiring finds from their blog like:

Atelier by Corvin Cristian - great Industrial Style
Smith & Mills, New York..it's like you're inside a whiskey barrel!

The Riding House Cafe, London, tiles and wood and beautiful space

The menus look great in all these places too! Some possible visits over this coming year perhaps?! I've put a feed link up to their blog (left) so check it out, I will be regualarly!!!

New Year, New Marks?

Hello 2012! I've had a lovely Christmas and nice break from uni, now it's ready to get back to work.. During my down time I've been researching lots of artists. Ones that have inspired me the most have been those related to drawing or illustration. Today I found this amazing video via dappled sky

How brilliant is that?! A self drawing balloon!!
Alternative mark-making is definately on the agenda this year...thanks dappled sky!!!
William Kentridge popped up whilst researching for my print project, I love this image of him drawing a HUGE typewriter (I really must draw some of those this year...)

I love these drawings by mild deliria
How tonal, soulful, full of collage, depth and energy...

I like the simplicity of this line drawing in the header for the blog Stitches | Fabric | And Soul

This *amazing* wallpaper by Deborah Bowness

And I think this family sketchbook idea is adorable!

This Daikanyama installation by Annalise Rees is a great idea

And I love these Qwerty piece's by Sarah Frost, it's not pen to paper drawing but I still like it!

So it's back to uni on Monday, and a term dedicated to wood, metal and tiles! I hope to take some more life drawing classes and try out some new ways of mark making.

All up for assesment!

Today is the end of term 1!  Phew! that all went a bit quick!? I presented my work to Kathy and Daniel yesterday, which went 'alright', though I did feel a bit gabbly!!

here's my space set up for assesment
mouldmaking examples, sketchbooks, technical file + artist research
my monoprint series of bikes - which turned out quite well in the end!
and I finally made good out of all those bits of broken resin!

Now it's off for 4 weeks and back in Janurary - lets hope for some snow!!!

Printmaking Sketchbook

Final day of printmaking... here's my sketchbook process!

introduction to collagraph
experiments in collagraph
chin colle and different papers
monoprinting (with j-cloth ink pad...NOT VERY GOOD!)

experiments with acetate
transfer experiments
working with colour
using my drawings
layering, layering
Lino printing
2 - plate lino
experiments with colour and paper
two new plates
experimenting some more
new set of collagraph plates...
just not working how I wanted them too :(
creating 'wallpaper' with the lino
successfully experimenting with monoprinting
developing some new drawings
some monoprint rejects
and other experiments that didn't make the series

working on a secondary large scale print
and the collection of collagraph prints...

...which due to excess ink...
....or too damp a paper...
...just didn't 'hack it' as a series
I do quite like the way the orange one (on the right) 'shakes' however!?
