Stiching with nails and the results of a High Firing

So, you remember that nice piece of porcelain with the nails?

Well after its bisque fire it went back in the kiln for a high fire (1260'c)

and looooooook!

that is some nice bubbling!

I'm experimenting with some more.....

check back for results next week!

  1. I adore these debbie!! Feeling the delicate material mixed with heavy duty joints works lovely, I'm aiming to achieve a similar result with my leather! :)

  2. thank you! I think your leatherwork is great. I love that the vessels are so soft when you touch them yet look solid. The metal addition is really interesting too! Have you considered forming your own metal bases, or necks and rolling the leather into the metal to continue the texture? There's some amazing work happening at the moment across the course. I'm very excited to see it all at assessment! :) X
